Cinnamon is one of the most delicious spices found on the earth. It is not only used in baking but is also helpful in medicinal and beauty treatments.

Cinnamon helps in treating acne by increasing circulation to the affected area. The antibacterial properties of the spice also help eliminate the bacteria that cause acne.

All you need to do is use a simple cinnamon face mask. Mix three tablespoons of honey with a teaspoon of cinnamon. Whip the mixture into a thick paste and apply to your face. While the cinnamon fights the harmful bacteria, the honey reduces the redness and restores your skin’s moisture.

Leave this mask on for about 10 minutes (or until it starts to burn) and wash your face with cool water. Pat dry.

Cinnamon improves blood circulation and increases blood flow to the skin’s outer surface, causing minor plumping of the skin. You can use this property to get rid of the fine lines. Try mixing three drops of cinnamon essential oil with a couple of tablespoons of petroleum jelly and applying to your face –it can help reduce fine lines naturally &give a glow.

And what else? Cinnamon can help you get plump lips too! Adding a little Vaseline to your lips and patting a pinch of cinnamon on top can work wonders. Just rub the mixture on for a few seconds and allow it to sit for a minute. You might experience a tingling sensation. Add another coat of Vaseline, and you are good to go.

Note: Never apply cinnamon alone directly to your skin. It can cause irritation.

Green Tea to freshen up your breath and lighten up your teeth

Have you ever experienced that disgusting smell sometimes when someone speaks to you?

I felt it today morning when I met one of my friends and they wished me “Good Morning”.

Seriously, it was a bad Morning…imagine what if you had bad breath & didn’t even know it or know what to do about it?

Green tea is the solution to this irritating problem. Green tea freshens up our breath and also helps in lightening the teeth.

  • Certain components in green tea destroy the cell membranes of the plaque bacteria which are also responsible for bad breath.
  • Bad breath is caused by the same bacteria that also causes dental decay so your teeth will thank you as much as your friends. Green tea contains odor-neutralizing compounds called catechins, which act on mouth odor the same way antiperspirants do on body odor.
  • For maximum effect, soak two green tea bags in warm water for five minutes, then gargle the tea around your mouth for 30 seconds.

Just Feel the freshness now !!

Homemade Scrub for Removing Dead Skin Cells

Homemade Scrub for Removing Dead Skin Cells

It’s a universal fact that with age, the natural skin replacement cycle slows down where we experience aging of the skin. This is nothing but the accumulation of dead cells on the topmost skin layer. We cannot hold back aging, but lately, we can see even the young generation having concerns about their skin appearing dull and lifeless, full of blemishes and fine lines.

I am sure you all have tried all the possible remedies available in the cosmetic shops. But, is it effective? According to a  survey, it has been found that even the most expensive anti-aging synthetic skin care products with AHA’s have huge side effects and in the long run, they will actually make the skin duller and age faster.

Let’s take a break from chemical solutions and switch to herbal tricks instead! I assure you, you won’t have any side effects. All you need to sneak into your kitchen and put in a little bit of effort.

As we know, our body follows a certain cycle where old cells are replaced by new cells all the time. This process helps in keeping the skin healthier, smoother and radiant during our lifespan.

You can make a homemade scrub for removing dead cells and freshening up the skin. Being herbal, the natural elements of the scrub penetrate more deeply into the skin and improve blood circulation. As a result, new skin production is stimulated and it replaces the old dead skin.
Trust me! These herbal scrubs can do wonders for your skin.

Useful Tips for Holi 2018

Useful Tips for Holi 2018

Holi Hai!” The moment we hear this, the only thing we imagine is the multiple types of colors floating in the air. Well, Holi is one of the biggest festivals in India and it goes on for 3 to 4 days where everybody expresses their love and joy by applying colors to each other. In the earlier days, the color called “Gulal” was made by crushing marigold flowers and rose petals which was very soothing and healthy. But, as the world changed, we have now landed up with artificial colors mixed with harsh chemicals. Such colors tend to damage the hair and skin as well as health.
Well here are some useful Tips to make your Holi celebrations joyful and not painful:

herbal Holi colors

  1. Always prepare your own herbal Holi colors by using flowers, leaves, edible components like turmeric powder, fruits like pomegranate, beverages like tea, coffee powder etc.
  2. Try playing with water colors as the water particles will keep your skin and hair hydrated in sunlight, though it is mixed with colors.
  3. Choose full sleeved clothes so that the harmful chemicals mixed in Holi colours won’t reach your skin directly.
  4. Apply lots of oils like coconut, almond, mustard or amla oil on the entire body and hair before and after Holi celebration.
  5. Wear a bandana or scarf on your hair so that it will cover maximum area of the hair thereby protecting it from artificial colors.
  6. Also apply thick nail paint on your nails as the strong grease and chemical colors can affect them for days.
  7. Once the Holi celebrations are over, have a quick and thorough shower with Luke warm water in order to take off the maximum color from your body. Once it gets dry, it becomes very difficult to get rid of colors from your skin and hair.

Hair Care After Holi:

Apply oil to your hair and shampoo your hair with a mild herbal shampoo. Try to remove the excess color from the hair and scalp. Apply a lot of conditioner regularly for at least 4 to 5 hair washes after Holi. Make hair oil your best friend as it will help your hair to overcome the damage done by harmful colors in Holi celebration. The application of homemade hair mask made of honey, curd, Aloe Vera, etc. will help you retain the original health of your hair quickly.

Skin Care After Holi:

It is very hard to keep yourself away from colors during Holi. That means, how much ever you try, there is a huge chance of skin damage and roughness due to harmful chemicals mixed with the colors. Never mind, you can still get back your healthy skin. Make sure you do not rub your face or other parts of your body vigorously in order to get rid of colors. This may lead to skin rashes and burning sensations. Instead, apply an herbal cleansing cream or Gram Flour (Besan) gently on your skin. Do not use harsh soap or shower gel as it may further damage your skin. Massage your body with natural oil on a daily basis before your bath & apply body lotions after your bath as it will moisturize the rough skin and heal the skin. Herbal beauty pack or “uptans” are the best remedy for the face as it will not only remove the colors but also nourish the skin and make it glow naturally.
